WHO IS JEHOVAH ACCORDING TO THE

THE WORD OF GOD?

SEE THE WATCHTOWER'S REFERENCE BIBLE EDITION OF ZECHARIAH 12&14

JEHOVAH IS THE PIERCED ONE

(Zechariah 12:8-10 KJV) In that day shall the LORD (JEHOVAH) defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and he that is feeble among them at that day shall be as David; and the house of David shall be as God, as the angel of the LORD (JEHOVAH) before them.

9 And it shall come to pass in that day, that I (JEHOVAH) will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.

10 And I (JEHOVAH) will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me (JEHOVAH) whom they have pierced (WHO WILL BE PIERCED? Jehovah will be pierced!), and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn. See Appendix A for "me versus one"

Note: The Septuagint (LXX), the third century B.C. translation from Hebrew to Greek is also translated "me." The first person pronoun "me" indicates that Jehovah Himself is speaking.

(Mat 1:21 KJV) And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS (the name Jesus in Hebrew is JOSHUA and literally means: JEHOVAH SAVIOUR): for he shall save his people from their sins.

NEW TESTAMENT FULFILLMENT OF THIS PROPHECY

(John 19:34-37 KJV)  But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.  35 And he that saw it bare record, and his record is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye might believe.  36 For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken (quote from Ps 34:20).  37 And again another scripture saith, THEY SHALL LOOK ON HIM WHOM THEY PIERCED (quote from Zech 12:10).  Jehovah/Jesus fulfilled both these prophecies at Calvary.

Note: John is applying the passage in Zechariah 12:10 to Jesus and speaking in third person therefore, the third person pronoun him is used instead of the first person name LORD OR JEHOVAH which is the antecedent of I and me in verse ten.

(Rev 1:7-8 KJV) Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen. 8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

JEHOVAH'S FEET SHALL STAND ON THE MOUNT OF OLIVES

(Zech 14:4 KJV) 4 And his feet (Whose feet? The LORD'S feet/Jehovah's feet/Jesus Christ's feet) shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.

 NEW TESTAMENT APPLICATION TO JESUS

(Acts 1:11-12 KJV) 11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

12 Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is from Jerusalem a Sabbath day's journey.

JEHOVAH IS COMING WITH HIS SAINTS

(Zech 14:5 KJV) 5 And ye shall flee to the valley of the mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azal: yea, ye shall flee, like as ye fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah: and the LORD my God shall come, (Who is coming with His saints? THE LORD JESUS CHRIST) and all the saints with thee.

NEW TESTAMENT APPLICATION TO JESUS

(Jude 1:14 KJV) And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,

(1Thess 3:13 KJV) To the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints.

JEHOVAH IS THE KING OF ISRAEL

(Zech 14:9 KJV) And the LORD (Jehovah) shall be king over all the earth: in that day (at His second return at Armageddon) shall there be one LORD, and his name one.   Note:  All will know then that Jehovah is Jesus.

(Isa 44:6 KJV) Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.

(Psa 10:16 KJV) The LORD is King for ever and ever: the heathen are perished out of his land.

NEW TESTAMENT APPLICATION TO JESUS

(Luke 19:38 KJV) Saying, Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest.

(John 19:19 KJV) And Pilate wrote a title, and put it on the cross. And the writing was, JESUS OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWS.

(Rev 19:16 KJV) And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.

JEHOVAH IS THE CREATOR

(Isa 44:24 KJV) Thus saith the LORD, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the LORD that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself;

(Isa 45:18 KJV) For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD; and there is none else.

NEW TESTAMENT APPLICATION TO JESUS

(John 1:3 KJV) All things were made by him (Jesus); and without him (Jesus) was not any thing made that was made.

(Col 1:16 KJV) For by him (the Lord Jesus Christ) were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him (Jesus), and for him:

JEHOVAH IS THE ONLY SAVIOUR

(Isa 43:10-11 KJV) Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. 11 I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no SAVIOUR.

(Isa 45:21 KJV) Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? have not I the LORD? and there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me.

NEW TESTAMENT APPLICATION TO JESUS

(John 4:42 KJV) And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.

(2 Pet 1:11 KJV) For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

(Jude 1:25 KJV) To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and for ever. Amen.

JEHOVAH IS THE REDEEMER

(Isa 44:6 KJV) Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.

NEW TESTAMENT APPLICATION TO JESUS

(Luke 1:68 KJV) Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; for he hath visited and redeemed his people,

(Titus 2:13-14 KJV) Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; 14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

(Rev 5:9 KJV) And they sung a new song, saying, Thou (Jesus, the Lamb of God)art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;

JEHOVAH IS THE FIRST AND THE LAST

(Isa 44:6 KJV) Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.

(Isa 48:12 KJV) Hearken unto me, O Jacob and Israel, my called; I am he; I am the first, I also am the last.

NEW TESTAMENT APPLICATION TO JESUS

(Rev 1:11 KJV) Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last...

(Rev 1:17 KJV) And when I saw him (JESUS), I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:

(Rev 22:12-13 KJV) And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. 13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.

(Rev 1:7-8 KJV) Behold, he(JESUS) cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen. 8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come(JESUS IS THE ONE WHO IS COMING IN VERSES 7 & 8), the Almighty.

JEHOVAH IS THE GREAT I AM

(Ex 3:14 KJV) And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.

NEW TESTAMENT APPLICATION TO JESUS

(John 8:24 KJV) I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am (he, the I AM THE I AM) ye shall die in your sins.

(John 8:58 KJV) Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.

NOTE: "Jesus said unto them … Before Abraham was [born], I am" (bracketed word we added to show the completion of the thought). If Jesus was just a created being he would have said, Before Abraham, I was. But I am is a reference to His eternality.

In comparing this with the Septuagint translations of Exodus 3:14 and Isaiah 43:10-13, we find that the translation is identical. In Exodus 3:14, Jehovah, speaking to Moses, said "I AM," which any intelligent scholar recognizes as synonymous with God. Jesus literally said to the Jews, "I AM Jehovah," and it is clear that they understood Him to mean just that, for they attempted, as the next verse reveals, to stone Him.

ONLY ONE NAME

In the New Testament, JESUS CHRIST THE LORD is the same person as in the O.T. YAHWEH/JEHOVAH/LORD, this Jesus is the Eternal Son of God. Only in His name can anyone be saved.

(Acts 4:10-12 KJV)

10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.

11 This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.

12 Neither is there salvation in any other (than in the person and name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth): for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

JESUS CHRIST/LORD/YAHWEH/Jehovah): and every knee shall bow before Him and confess that He is in deed LORD OR YAHWEH to the glory of God the Father.

(Isa 45:22-23 KJV) Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else. 23 I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.

Philippians 2:10-11

10 At the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

11 And that every tongue should confess that JESUS CHRIST IS LORD (JEHOVAH), to the glory of God the Father.

REJECTING JESUS' NAME (JESUS' NAME MEANS= YAHWEH/JEHOVAH SAVIOUR)

(John 3:17-18 KJV) For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

18 He that believeth on him (THE LORD JESUS CHRIST) is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already,(Why?) because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. (His name is YAHWEH, JEHOVAH, LORD, JESUS)

Appendix A - "They Shall Look Upon ME" Zech 12:10

All the Hebrew Texts, such as: The Standard Critical Edition, BHK, BHS, have "me" in Zechariah 12:10. The Septuagint (LXX), the third century B.C. translation from Hebrew to Greek is also translated "me." The first person pronoun "me" indicates that Jehovah Himself is speaking.  Anyone who made a "Modern Hebrew Text," used one that had "me" in the manuscript. Modern Hebrew versions that do not translate yla "me" have made a variant text in order to impose some predetermined bias, hoping to undermine the impact of this verse.

Anyone who is interested can write the American Bible Society in New York and request a copy of the Old Testament Hebrew Texts that have been used to translate the O.T. into hundreds of current languages. Please check it out for yourself!

The Watchtower's (NWT) variant rendering of Zech 12:10 And I will pour out upon the house of David and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem the spirit of favor and entreaties, and they will certainly look to the One (Should be "ME" - meaning Jehovah who is speaking.) whom they pierced through, and they will certainly wail over Him as in the wailing over an only [son]; and there will be a bitter lamentation over him as when there is bitter lamentation over the firstborn [son]. See John 19:37

NOTE: See Zechariah 14:3-5 in the NWT to be sure that the "ME" or the Person is Jehovah, for Jehovah's feet will stand and Jehovah will return with His saints. This is the Lord Jesus Christ as the verses in the New Testament clearly prove.

Zechariah 14:3-4 "And Jehovah will certainly go forth and war against those nations as in the day of his warring, in the day of fight. 4 And his feet will actually stand in that day upon the mountain of the olive...5 And Jehovah my God will certainly come, all the holy ones (saints) being with him.
